asked the Minister of Power what estimate he has made of the net value of the assets of the steel companies named in the White Paper on Steel Nationalisation as coming within the scope of the Steel Nationalisation Bill.

Mr. Marsh

The book value of the assets after depreciation as shown in the latest report of each company, including Richard Thomas and Baldwins, is about £1,300 million, including loans repayable in cash.

asked the Minister of Power what estimate he has made of the capital investment undertaken during the past 10 years by the steel companies affected by the proposed nationalisation of the industry.
