§ 76. Dr. Brayasked the Minister of Transport whether he is satisfied that the code of practice on brakes of heavy vehicles, which has been drafted by his working party, is adequate; and what steps he is taking to see that it is observed.
§ Mr. Tom FraserI am satisfied that it is adequate for those heavier vehicles for 77W which it was prepared, and I have no evidence that it is not being generally observed. Apart from visiting manufacturers, my area mechanical engineers have been asked to take a special interest in the braking performance of this class of vehicle during roadside checks.
§ 77. Dr. Brayasked the Minister of Transport when he will publish a new code of practice for the brakes of medium-sized goods vehicles.
§ Mr. Tom FraserI hope to be able to circulate a draft code of practice for these vehicles for consideration by my Working Party on Brakes early in the new year.
