HC Deb 17 November 1965 vol 720 c77W
Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport if he will give for the latest available year the tonnage and ton mileage of iron ore, excluding scrap, carried respectively by road and rail.

Mr. Tom Fraser

Nearly 20 million tons were carried by rail in 1964; a ton mileage figure is not available. Figures of carriage by road are not available but I understand that the amount carried by road vehicles using the public highway is very small.
