§ 25. Mr. Danceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation enabling compensation paid to victims of crimes of violence to be repaid by the person committing the crime, by means of an adjustment to his Income Tax code number immediately he is in a position to obtain employment.
§ Sir F. SoskiceThere is much to be said for the principle of reparation by which I have always been attracted. But there are very great practical difficulties in applying it. The whole problem will no doubt be examined by the Royal Commission now conducting a fundamental review of our penal system.
