asked the Secretary of State for Defence in what way the Navy Department disposes of its surplus stocks; and how the proceeds from such sales are recorded.

By inviting tenders from potential buyers, and advertising if necessary: proceeds are recorded in Vote 6Z.

93. Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give the total sum realised from the sale of surplus stocks by the Navy Department since 1st January, 1960, up to the latest convenient date.

Mr. Mayhew

£29,655,000 from 1st April, 1960, to 31st March, 1965. would need further notice to identify separately the amounts realised in the last three months of 1959–60.
