§ Mr. Tom FraserUp to the end of March, 1964, the total revenue earned from parking meters in the Greater London area was £2,286,888; the balance available for the provision and maintenance of off-street car parks was £609,387, and the amount applied for this purpose was £210,566.
The figures for the year ended 31st March, 1965, are not yet available.
§ 69. Mr. Bossomasked the Minister of Transport whether he will inquire into local authorities' progress in planning off-street parking facilities before he authorises a parking meter scheme in a specific area.
§ Mr. Tom FraserYes. In deciding whether to authorise a parking meter 51W scheme I am required by statute to have regard to the extent to which off-street parking accommodation is available, or its provision is likely to be encouraged, in the neighbourhood.
