asked the Postmaster-General what experience he has of delays on the railways to mailbags going to and from the Accrington area; and what representations he has made to the railway authorities on this matter.

I much regret that some parcel mails, including a number going to and from the Accrington area, are not infrequently subject to delay while in transit on the railways. British Railways are aware of the position and are working in close collaboration with us in a sustained effort to improve matters.
