HC Deb 20 November 1963 vol 684 cc99-100W
73. Mr. Hale

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will hold a full inquiry into the circumstances in which the ashes of an Oldham citizen who died on holiday and was cremated at Bodmin were not delivered by post in Oldham in time for the interment.

Mr. Mawby

A full inquiry was made at the time and showed that the parcel containing these ashes was inexplicably delayed while in transit on the railways As I said when I wrote to the hon. Member in July last, I am indeed sorru—as are British Railways—for the anxiety and trouble caused by this distressing and unfortunate occurrence.
