HC Deb 26 July 1963 vol 681 cc239-40W
Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Transport when it is proposed to start work on the M.6 extension from the M.1 at Catthorpe to Castle Bromwich.

Mr. Marples

Preparation of the section of this motorway between Castle Bromwich and Coleshill is being co-ordinated with work on the Dunston to Castle Bromwich motorway. Subject to completion of the essential preparatory processes and to the availability of funds, it is hoped that constructional work on the whole of this length will be in hand by mid-1966. From Coleshill there will be a good dual-carriageway route to M.1 via A.446, A.45 and M.45. The extension of the motorway from Coleshill to M.1 at Catthorpe is, therefore, of lower priority, and it is not possible at this stage to forecast when construction will begin. Preparatory work is proceeding.
