HC Deb 18 July 1963 vol 681 c101W
71. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Minister of Education whether he is aware of the possibilities arising from recent developments in the use of eight millimetre films for educational purposes in reducing the cost and increasing the availability of film libraries useable economically by classes in school; and whether he will take steps to extend this scientific aid to all schools.

Sir E. Boyle

Yes. I regard the increasing use of 8 m.m. sound films and of short, single concept silent films in cassette form as a valuable development. The purchase and installation of these aids is a matter for local education authorities, but I know that there is widespread interest in them.
