asked the Minister of Transport by what year he estimates that the United Kingdom will have 1,900 miles of motorways.

Mr. Galbraith

We are pressing forward with our present programme of 1,000 miles of motorway in England and Wales. Possible extensions to this are being examined, but it is far too early to say what motorways will be added or when they will be completed.
