§ 77. Mr. Warbeyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he is aware that the selling price of new houses increased by 11 per cent. during 1961, following upon an increase of 11 per cent. during the preceding four years, although the labour cost per house fell by 5 per cent. during this five-year period; and whether he will take powers to include a ceiling on selling prices or rents in the conditions which may be attached to the granting of planning consent for new housing development.
§ Mr. RipponAs my right hon. Friend said in reply to the hon. Member last week, he does not believe effective price control to be practicable and believes that any attempt to introduce it would be harmul, because it would tend to restrict output.
