HC Deb 21 February 1962 vol 654 c47W
49. Mr. D. Jones

asked the Minister of Labour how many people are currently employed in the cotton textile industry in the United Kingdom; and how this number compares with the number of those so employed on the same date in 1961.

Mr. Hare

In December, 1961, 226,000 persons were employed in Great Britain in the spinning, doubling and weaving of cotton, flax and man-made fibres, compared with 241,100 in December, 1960. Corresponding figures for the United Kingdom as a whole are not available.
