Mr. Kelley

asked the Minister of Labour how many boys and girls who left school in the Don Valley division during last year have not yet found employment, giving separate figures for each local office.

Mr. Hare

Twenty-seven boys and 19 girls who left schools last year in the Don Valley Youth Employment Office area, including Goole, but excluding Thorne, were still unemployed on 12th February.

Mr. Kelley

asked the Minister of Labour how many boys and girls entered apprenticeships in the Don Valley division during 1961; and what percentage of the total number of those placed in employment the figure represents.

Mr. Hare

836 boys (or 38 per cent.) and 28 girls (or 4 per cent.) in the area of the Don Valley Youth Employment Office, including Goole, but excluding Thorne, entered apprenticeships in 1961.

asked the Minister of Labour how many boys and girls are registered as unemployed in the Don Valley area, giving figures separately for each local office.

Mr. Hare

On 12th February, 1962, 58 boys and 69 girls were registered as unemployed at the Don Valley Youth Employment Office, which is the only office in the Don Valley division.
