Dr. Bennett

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he has yet received from the Fareham Urban District Council a second scheme for the redevelopment of the central area of Fareham; if he is aware that this new scheme has been prepared without consultation with interested bodies locally, such as the Chamber of Trade; and if he will ensure that local interests are fully considered before he reaches any decision on this matter.

Only one scheme for the redevelopment of the central area of Fareham has been submitted for my right hon. Friend's comments. The Fareham Urban District Council has asked for an interview with the Department's officers and the question of local consultation will be one of the subjects then to be discussed.
