Mr. Sorensenasked the Minister of Transport what counts or records have been taken during the past twelve months of the number of vehicles during peak hours converging at the Green Man, Leytonstone, at Whipps Cross and at the Baker's Arms junction, Leyton; what traffic increase is thus shown; and what further consideration has been given to means of easing congestion at those points.
§ Mr. HayDuring the past year the London Traffic Management Unit has made a count of this traffic. No effective comparison can be made with previous counts which were for different purposes. We are publishing draft Orders next132W month to show our proposals for the construction of a roundabout at the Green Man junction. Proposals for classified road improvements at Whipps Cross and at the Baker's Arms are under consideration but funds are not yet available for these schemes to be included in the road programme.
