HC Deb 21 June 1961 vol 642 c137W
54. Mr. Critchley

asked the Minister of Transport when he proposes to introduce a regulation to prohibit the excess fuel device on diesel engines from being used while vehicles are in motion, causing dense smoke to be emitted.

Mr. Marples

I shall be making within a few days a new Regulation, which will make it illegal from the beginning of 1962 for a driver to use the excess fuel device while the vehicle is in motion, or for the control for the excess fuel device to be placed in the cab of new vehicles. Controls on existing vehicles will have to be removed from the cab by July, 1962.
