§ 55. Mr. A. Hendersonasked the Lord Privy Seal whether Her Majesty's Government will consider the use of United Nations machinery for the pacific settlement of disputes in connection with the Berlin problem; and to what extent it is their policy to participate in a 52-power conference on the Berlin problem.
§ Mr. HeathHer Majesty's Government are considering, in consultation with their allies, all possible methods of settling the Berlin problem. On the second point, it has always been Her Majesty's Government's policy that once an all-German government had been formed a conference of this nature should take place with a view to concluding a peace treaty with that government.
§ 56. Mr. W. Hamiltonasked the Lord Privy Seal what recent protests have been made to the Soviet authorities about the repeated violations by the East German 7W authorities of the Four-Power agreement on the status of Berlin; and what replies have been made by them.
§ Mr. HeathOn 13th February the three commandants protested at the denial by the East Berlin authorities of entry into East Berlin of West German church leaders. In reply the Soviet commandant disclaimed responsibility. On 1st May the three commandants made a public protest against the military parade held the same day in East Berlin.
