§ Mr. de Freitasasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his policy with regard to setting up of a Dutch auction system for horticultural produce as suggested in the recent Departmental Report on Horticultural Co-operative Marketing.
§ Mr. SoamesI agree with the conclusion of the Departmental Committee, to which the hon. Member refers, that there is not enough evidence to justify the very large capital expenditure which would be involved in any general introduction of the Dutch auction system into this country, but I hope that the horticultural industry itself, and in particular the Horticultural Marketing Council, will carefully consider what is said on this subject in the Committee's Report.
