HC Deb 09 May 1960 vol 623 c1W
2. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Health what consideration he gave to the relative priority of the various items proposed in the South Western Regional Hospital Board's estimates for 1960–61 when he decided to reduce the grant to the Board by £1 million.

Mr. Walker-Smith

The increased amount allocated to the Board for the current financial year was calculated so as to enable the level of services at the beginning of the year to be maintained and to give them a fair share of the total sum available for further developments and improvements. Boards are left to determine their own priorities within the total funds available.
