§ Mr. Iain MacleodNorth Lanarkshire (including Coatbridge and Airdrie) is regarded as one unit for the purpose of computing a percentage rate of unemployment. At 12th January and 9th March the percentages unemployed in that area were 9.3 and 8.4, respectively.
§ 86. Mrs. Mannasked the Minister of Labour what reduction has taken place in the number of unemployed persons engaged in heavy industries registering at Coatbridge and Airdrie employment exchanges between 31st January and 15th March.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodBetween 12th January and 9th March there was a decrease of 188 in the numbers unemployed in the building and contracting industries at Airdrie and 160 at Coat-bridge. There was little change in other heavy industries, apart from an increase of 21 at Airdrie and 97 at Coatbridge in the number unemployed in the iron and steel tubes industry.
