Mr. Mahon

asked the Minister of Education what was the number of Bootle pupils who sat the General Certicate of Education examination in the year 1958 at O level in grammar schools inside or outside of the borough; and what was the average number of passes per student.

The figures for grammar schools inside the borough were 167 and 3.2, respectively. Information about pupils attending schools outside the borough is not readily available.

asked the Minister of Education how many secondary modern schools in Bootle are preparing students for the General Certificate of Education; how many students from such schools have taken the examination to date; and what was the average number of subjects passed by such students.
