Mr. Malcolm MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when work first started on the construction of the road in the Isle of Eriskay; what is the total cost of the scheme; and how much of this has been contributed by his Department.

Mr. Maclay

The road in the Isle of Eriskay was started in 1950 and completed in 1957 at a cost of£22,258. The grant paid was£16,694.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals and plans he has received in the last 10 years from Inverness County Council for the construction of a jetty in the Isle of Eriskay; what decision he has reached; what is the estimated cost of the scheme; and when work is likely to begin.
