HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 c241W
Dr. A. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that the National Coal Board's Revised Plan for Coal in Scotland has caused difficulties for Fife County Council, in that the Council's provision of housing services and amenities was based on estimates of development which the National Coal Board has now withdrawn; and whether he will make representations to the National Coal Board with a view to preventing other authorities being placed in a similar difficulty.

Mr. Maclay

A major revision of plans such as that recently announced by the National Coal Board is bound to have reactions on the areas affected. The Board is well aware of this, and tell me that it tries to keep local planning authorities informed of pending changes as early as it possibly can.
