HC Deb 16 December 1959 vol 615 c164W
72. Mr. du Cann

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of a recent non-fatal accident to young children and a fatal accident involving an elderly person in Mantle Street, Wellington, he will cause the question of the installation of a pedestrian crossing to be re-examined.

Mr. Hay

The number of pedestrians wishing to cross the road at this point is so small that a zebra crossing could not be expected to command proper respect from motorists; nor would it be calculated to prevent accidents of the kind referred to by my hon. Friend.
