§ 77. Mr. Houghtonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what he estimates would be the saving in administration costs if the work on Surtax assessments were decentralised from the office of the Special Commissioners to the local offices of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Taxes; and what consideration he has given to the desirability of making this change.
Mr. AmoryAny savings would be small in relation to the total yield of Surtax. No change in the organisation is under consideration at present.
