HC Deb 04 December 1958 vol 596 c163W
Mr. A. Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce amending legislation to enable a juror who has been summoned to serve on a jury and who has therefore been unable to report for work, but whose summons is subsequently cancelled on the same day, to receive the same compensation for loss of that day's earning as he would have received had his summons not been cancelled.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I am aware of the facts of the case which has given rise to the hon. Member's Question, and they have been noted for consideration when any relevant legislation is proposed. It is not always practicable, however, to frame legislation to cover all possible contingencies.
