HC Deb 04 December 1958 vol 596 cc162-3W
Mr. D. Howell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions have taken place in recent years concerning the use of slot-machines by children for the purchase of cigarettes and tobacco.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The numbers of persons prosecuted for either of the offences against section 7 of the Children and Young Persons Act, 1933, in the years 1955 to 1957 were 50, 67 and 80 respectively. I am sorry that the figures for which the hon Member asks are not available separately.
