HC Deb 11 February 1957 vol 564 c131W
107. Mr. Elwyn Jones

asked the Paymaster-General how many pensioners are affected by the Central Electricity Authority's scheme for improved pensions in the electricity supply industry; and what is the estimated annual cost of the proposed increases.

Mr. Maudling

The Central Electricity Authority has not indicated how many would be affected, but it estimated the cost of implementing its proposals at £164,000 per annum.

111. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Paymaster-General whether he can now make a statement about proposals submitted by the Central Electricity Authority and the Gas Council for pension increases.

Mr. Maudling

My noble Friend has informed the Central Electricity Authority and the Gas Council that he is now prepared to approve increases analogous to those under the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1956, for ex-municipal employees with the necessary qualifications who have retired from the two industries.
