§ Mr. MaudlingRegional petroleum officers have been given wide discretion to grant more petrol to self-employed people, including travellers, who can show that they would otherwise face serious loss of livelihood. Firms are, of course, free to devote as much as they choose of their block allowance to the needs of their travelling representatives and regional petroleum officers have discretion to grant extra block allowances in cases where production or turnover would otherwise be seriously affected.
