asked the Paymaster-General if, in order to lessen the damage from subsidence, he will issue a general direction to the National Coal Board to pack waste material into old workings.

Mr. Renton

This is a highly technical matter and my noble Friend considers it is best left to the National Coal Board, which is fully aware of the importance of reducing subsidence damage to the minimum.
