§ Mr. Russellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what agreements or treaties exist concerning the waters of the Nile to which the United Kingdom is a party.
§ Mr. Ian HarveyHer Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom are parties to agreements made by
- (a) an Exchange of Notes with the Government of Egypt in regard to the use of the waters of the River Nile for irrigation purposes, dated the 7th of May, 1929 (State Papers, Vol. 130, page 104), and
- (b) various Exchanges of Notes with the Government of Egypt regarding the construction of the Owen Falls Dam in Uganda, between the 30th of May, 1949, and the 5th of January, 1953 (Cmd. 9642 and Cmd. 9132).
