§ Mr. John MacLeodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware of the need for industry in the Easter Ross area of Ross-shire caused by the closing of the Admiralty base at Invergordon, and the threat of increased unemployment in the area; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. MaclayI have been in close touch with the Admiralty and the Board of Trade about employment opportunities in the Invergordon-Tain district, and I hope that negotiations at present in progress with a number of industrial firms will result in the productive use of facilities which have become available owing to the closure of the Admiralty base.
