HC Deb 17 December 1957 vol 580 cc30-1W
Miss Herbison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what are the fees charged in education authority schools giving separate figures for primary and secondary pupils in each such school;

(2) the number of pupils in each education authority school in which fees are paid, giving separate figures for primary and secondary pupils.

Mr. Maclay

I have sent the hon. Member a statement giving the details for which she asks.

Miss Herbison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will name the independent schools and the fees paid by pupils in these schools.

Mr. Maclay

I am sending the hon. Member a list of the 159 independent schools in Scotland known to my Department, together with a statement of the fees payable in those which receive grant. Fees in independent schools which are not in receipt of any financial aid are not a matter for me.
