HC Deb 10 April 1957 vol 568 c125W
70. Mr. Slater

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware of the importance of giving greater concentration in extracting more of the main species of timber in British Guiana with the object of assisting the economy of the country; and what action is being taken.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I am aware that the economy of the Colony will best be served by full utilisation of its forest resources. The Government is encouraging the extraction of as many species as possible in addition to crabwood and greenheart. Much depends on market demands.
