HC Deb 10 April 1957 vol 568 c125W
68. Mr. Slater

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is being done to extend and improve the lines of communication in British Guiana; and, in view of the poor highways in British Guiana, if he will give special consideration to this with increased financial aid.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The development programme for 1956–60 includes provision for spending nearly £3 million on extending or improving several major roads and for building a road to the interior. The programme is being assisted from C.D. & W. funds. The main difficulties are technical, rather than financial.
