HC Deb 15 February 1956 vol 548 c272W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will give careful consideration, in addition to installing white cat's eye studs down the middle of heavily-used roads in unlit and semi-rural districts, to installing red cat's eyes as well along the sides of the roads, as has already been done with beneficial results in a few cases such as the main road to the coast outside Maidstone.

Mr. Watkinson

Kerbside reflectors are useful on the bends of roads with flush kerbs, as, for example, in sections of the Thanet coast road. Roadside reflectors used with other kinds of kerb become obscured by dirt, and it is generally better in these conditions to depend on posts fitted with clusters of reflectors, such as are now used on many bends.
