HC Deb 15 February 1956 vol 548 c260W
54. Sir R. Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress is being made with the building of new hospitals in British Guiana; and what steps are being taken to modernise existing hospitals in the Colony.

Mr. Hare

Of the five new State hospitals and five new cottage hospitals included in the development programme, one cottage hospital has been completed and one State hospital should be completed this year. Work will soon begin on another State hospital and two more cottage hospitals. Plans have been made for modernising existing hospitals, in which seven hospitals are given high priority. £40,000 has been provided for these plans this year.
