HC Deb 12 December 1956 vol 562 cc58-9W
105. Commander Maitland

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is satisfied that the present arrangements for the regulation of Milford Haven are adequate in view of the developments proposed there; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Watkinson

No. If the present proposals for developments in Milford Haven materialise, a much greater volume of shipping will use its waters, and it may well be necessary to establish a conservancy authority. I propose to consult the interests and authorities concerned.

Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he has considered the situation which will arise in Milford Haven when the present proposals for dry docks and tanker terminals mature; and what measures he has in mind to deal with this problem.

Mr. Watkinson

Yes. Much more shipping will use Milford Haven if the present proposals for tanker terminals and dry docks mature. I propose to consult the authorities and other interests concerned about the creation of a conservancy authority for the Haven.
