HC Deb 12 December 1956 vol 562 c43W
58. Sir J. Lucas

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what facilities are being given to British subjects resident in Port Said, now being expelled, to ship luggage and movable belongings before the final evacuation of British troops.

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

The military authorities in Port Said and the sea transport authorities engaged in organising the withdrawal of British forces from Egypt have agreed to do everything possible to transport the personal and household effects of all those British subjects who are being evacuated from Port Said. Full details are not available, but I am satisfied that everything possible will be done to ensure that no one loses his luggage or movable belongings.
