§ 100. Mr. Teelingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the present position about the case of Mr. Topham's compensation from the Cuban Government.
§ Mr. Dodds-ParkerAs my noble Friend, then Joint Under-Secretary, stated in reply to the hon. Member on 1st August, Her Majesty's Embassy at Havana has been instructed to revert to the question of compensation after the trial of Mr. Topham's assailant has taken place.
The date of the trial has not yet been announced. A Letter of Request for Mr. Topham's evidence was received from the Cuban Embassy in London on 31st October and is being dealt with through the appropriate judicial channels in this country.
