§ Mr. Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that the Soviet and Rumanian Governments have offered to supply Western Germany with oil and petrol, thus obviating the necessity of that country having to initiate petrol rationing; and whether he will inquire from these Governments to what extent they could supply our oil and petrol needs.
§ Mr. Dodds-ParkerI am informed that offers of Soviet oil have recently been 93W made to oil companies in Western Germany, and that a number of these offers have been accepted. I am not aware of any such offers of Rumanian oil. The Answer to the second part of the Question is "No".
