HC Deb 04 May 1955 vol 540 c126W
60. Mr. P. Roberts

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the inconvenience and obstruction caused to motorists by traffic signs erected at the London Midland Region Railway Station at Woodhouse, Mill Bridge, on the Sheffield to Worksop Road resulting from the fact that work on the demolition of this bridge was started considerably in advance of the supply of the necessary material, he will take the necessary steps to ensure that stricter supervision is exercised over the granting of rights to obstruct traffic by contractors engaged on bridge reconstruction.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Reconstruction began only after adequate supplies of materials were on the site. It is my policy to ensure that obstructions to traffic caused by bridge works are kept at a minimum.
