HC Deb 02 March 1955 vol 537 c287W
114. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is satisfied that highway authorities take all possible steps to de-ice slippery roads; what research is being undertaken to simplify this operation; how many accidents have occurred during February, which can be solely attributable to skidding on greasy or icy roads; and if he will state the number of deaths from injuries in those accidents.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Yes. The Road Research Laboratory are continuing research on this question. I am afraid the figures requested in the third and fourth parts of the Question are not yet available, and will not, when available, distinguish between accidents solely attributable to skidding from those involving skidding.
