Rodgersasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to what extent the local work of propaganda for launching the new Highway Code is being held up because local authorities are uncertain of their financial position; and if he will consider sending a letter advising local authorities of the continuation of the 50 per cent. grant.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI shall shortly be sending out the circular on this subject which is normally issued at this time of year.
It will indicate that I will continue to contribute 50 per cent. grant from Exchequer Funds towards approved road safety activities carried out by local authorities in 1955–56.
