53. Mr. Skeffington

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that no proposals for modernisation are included in the British Transport Commission's plan in connection with the railway to Hayes and Harlington; and whether he will ask the Commission to consider this omission.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Although the line to Hayes and Harlington is not included in the proposals for electrification specified in the plan, the hon. Member should not assume that it will not benefit from the other developments proposed. The detail and timing of individual schemes will be worked out by the Commission in consultation with the area boards.
