HC Deb 09 February 1955 vol 536 c214W
69. Mr. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many countries have now ratified the Convention on Genocide; which of those are Dominions; and why Her Majesty's Government have not yet done so.

Mr. Turton

Forty-eight countries, including Australia, Canada and Ceylon, have ratified or acceded. Her Majesty's Government have not yet done so, nor have the Governments of New Zealand, India and Pakistan. In reply to the last part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the present Minister of Supply on 17th May, 1954.
