HC Deb 25 November 1954 vol 533 cc169-70W
22. Mr. Baldwin

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether agreement has now been reached on the standardisation in England and Scotland of the definition of "overshot jaws," which will now allow free interchange of bulls licensed on either side of the border, and thus do away with the necessity for a relicensing, which is causing irritation and uncertainty.

Mr. Amory

My night hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland has recently adopted a new definition of "over-shot jaws" for the propose of bull licensing. This will permit uniformity of practice throughout Great Britain to be established and will avoid any risk of a bull licensed in one country being refused a licence on grounds of this particular defect on transfer across the Border.
