Mr. Callaghan

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if taking the last 12 cases of malicious damage about Her Majesty's ships as a sample, he will state the ages of those committing the offences; on what type of engagement they were serving; and what proportion of their engagements remained to be served.

In the 12 latest cases, about which I have the necessary information, the ratings were serving either on a continuous service engagement of 12 years or on a special service engagement of 7 years, followed by 5 years in the Royal Fleet Reserve. The following tables give the details required:
