§ 96. Mr. Rentonasked the Minister of Education whether she will cause an inquiry to be held into the qualifications, salaries, allowances and pensions of assistant masters of grammar schools, with a view to ensuring that high standards of teaching are maintained and that an adequate number of well-qualified assistant masters are forthcoming to meet the increasing needs of such schools.
§ Miss HorsbrughNo. I am as concerned as anyone to see that high standards of teaching continue and that theschools, including grammar schools, get sufficient well-qualified teachers but I do not think that a special inquiry such as is suggested in the question would serve these ends.
